This article is in regards to the role that media specialists play in teaching and collaborating with teachers, and how the type of scheduling in place in a school's media center affects these roles. It has results of several studies and surveys of media specialists, and how they view this part of their jobs as far as how they fulfill them as well as their attitudes about them.

Wow, this is a great article. Media specialists are instructional consultants, teachers, and information specialists. It is large load to carry. I just keep thinking about how our students are tested so much with the CRCT and what they miss out on because of all the preparation that comes with that. I wonder how much collaboration between teacher and media specialist happens. I know at the school that I volunteer at it seems very limited.
I thought this was a great article, too; it stated that media specialists perform an instructional consultant role when initiating literature-based programs in schools. Otherwise, they feel that their role is more of a supportive one. Teachers and media specialists can really enhance the learning of their students if they collaborate with each other.
